WALKING WITH GOD–WORK ETHICS

What kind of work ethic should we have?

Believers should have an attitude that pleases God, not people. Here are two references to work ethic in the Bible. First, “Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts” (1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT).

And Second, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism” (Colossian 3:23-25).

Again, believers’ action principle should be to do what God wants, not what God hates. For example, our faithful Lord, Jesus, and ancestors like Mose, Joseph, and Daniel did make decisions based on God’s command with integrity, obedience, and sincerity, not compromising with authorities, other people, or culture.

The Bible says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).
