WALKING WITH GOD—How Satan Entices You

Satan is a fallen angel who tries to tempt a believer to sin against God.

4 Ways Satan Attacks You

Lie

Satans put lies into people’s hearts. The Bible says, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44).

Instinctive Desire

Satan uses all kinds of lewdness and perversion to stumble people down by breaking their sense of godliness and morals. So Bible says, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8).

The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life

Vision

Eve was tempted when she saw the fruit of the good and evil tree. What we see the lust fill in our hearts, in turn, commit to sin. Jesus warned the lust of the eyes and said, “And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell” (Matthew 18:9).

Pride

Satan is trying to tempt people to be like God with pride in the same way he had fallen. Bible says, “For you have said in your heart: “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.” (Isaiah 14:13).
