1. Greeks believed the soul was immortal but trapped in a mortal body.

2. The Greek idea is quite different from the Hebrew understanding of life being a gift from God.

3. Sadly, the biblical understanding of these things has been forgotten and replaced with Greek philosophy.

4. The Hebrews did not visualize the soul’s escape from the body but the actual death of the self.

5. As a matter of fact, eternal life was ascribed exclusively to God.
