1. God placed Adam and Eve in the garden with two trees, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

2. Adam’s sin causes us to be mortal.

3. “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17).

4. The reward for obedience is life and the punishment for disobedience is death.

5. Lord your god will bless you in the land which you go to possess.

6. “Therefore, just as through one man son entered the world, death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).

7. We are not immortal because we have not yet eaten from the Tree of Life.
