Gist of Disney’s Plaza de la Familia reflects heart of Dia de los Muertos (USA TODAY, Mon, Sep 13, 2023)

Disney California Adventure Park celebrates the Lunar New Year in January, late fall, and winter and celebrates a Festival of Holidays. Disney California Adventure at Paradise Gardens, Plaza de la Familia, decorated with skeleton figures flanking the entrance, is honoring the Mexican traditions of Dia de los Muerto through Nov. 2. It offers a space for those familiar and unfamiliar with the Dia de los Muertos traditions to connect with the meaning of the celebrations. The Mariahchi Divas‘ performance, ‘Un Poco loco’ from ‘Coco,’ is one of the fascinating things to see in the plaza. Disney California Adventure Park developed Plaza de la Familia in 2017, shortly before ‘Coco,’ Disney and Pixar’s film was released in theaters. Also, there is the Memory Wall, called the Arbol de la Vida, where guests can leave notes to honor deceased loved ones.
